The Hardtweible
In the region of Hardt, in Baden-Württenberg, the ghost of the Hardweible (meaning the lady of Hardt) can be seen.
Legend has it that a noble woman living in Burg Werenwag once deceived a young knight, who threw himself off a cliff in desperation. The woman was held responsible for the death of the young knight and she has been atoning for her sin ever since. Her ghost is still wandering through the woods around Burg Werenwag and she is usually seen wearing a black gown and a black veiled hat in order to hide her face for shame. She is an evil spirit and she is said to deceive visitors, who, after seeing her, get lost and end up in holes top, caves or even fell off cliffs.
