This is a sample of the kind of piece you can order (this li'l guy is in someone's collection!).
One of a kind, hand needle felted animal in a vintage china vessel (vessel included). Each creation comes with an attached, stamped metal tag: it's unique identifying number of authenticity.
Needle-felting is an incredibly labor-intensive medium. Merino, Cheviot, Romney, and other wools are carded and dyed. Long, barbed, needles are then used to sculpt the wool: compacting the fibers by tangling them together top with repeated poking. Colors are blended using this method. Some animals have a wire skeleton; beaks, noses and claws are often sculpted in clay and added. Beeswax is sometimes used to harden a portion. Glass eyes are painted and set. It's not uncommon to spend over twenty hours on some of the larger animals.
Due to the delicate nature of the needle-felted creatures, it's recommended you minimize handling. If you can't resist doing so, and your creation gets fuzzy, you can smooth the pelt down with your palms. These are sculptures; not appropriate as toys.
